Clean As A Whistle: DCI Clears PS Raymond Omollo’s Office of Fraud Allegations

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has dismissed reports linking Interior Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo’s office to a multimillion-shilling fraud case, terming the claims misleading and sensational.

A report by The Standard had alleged that two of the seven suspects arrested at Harambee House were employees in Dr. Omollo’s office. However, in a statement issued on March 20, 2026, the DCI clarified that none of the suspects were government officials or employees of the Ministry of Interior.

According to the DCI, the suspects who were posing as senior government officials used Harambee House to stage a fake tender scam targeting two foreign investors from Swedish firm Jokara AB. The victims were defrauded of Ksh.60.6 million in a fictitious deal to supply 500 Toyota Hiace ambulances.

Detectives arrested the suspects on March 10, 2026, after they illegally accessed a boardroom at Harambee House. Among those arrested was a former public servant, Purity Njeri, who the DCI confirmed was not attached to PS Omollo’s office.

The suspects were charged at the Milimani Law Courts with conspiracy to defraud, obtaining money by false pretences, and forgery. They pleaded not guilty and were released on bond.
