In yet another clear indication of the widening rifts between Siaya Governor James Orengo and ODM Party led by Oburu Odinga, the Siaya governor has told close aides that he intends to contest the presidency on DCP party.
The Siaya Governor has also hinted at visiting Wamunyoro in the next few weeks.
Two weeks ago, Orengo is said to have met DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua at the home of the sister to Orengo’s meru wife, Betty Kaari Murungi where Orengo presented a potential joint plan with Gachagua to counter Ruto.
In the planned Wamunyoro visit, Orengo will be accompanied by Nairobi DCP Governor candidate Babu Owino and DCP Senate candidate Edwin Sifuna.

Gachagua recently revealed that he is in talks with several ODM leaders due to the expected split in the party with at least three factions emerging.
Gachagua, who is impeached and not expected on thr presidential ballot, is putting a brave eligibility face for his supporters, but is reaching out to strange bedfellows.
Orengo believes the Luo can pull away from President Ruto if a Luo candidate takes up DCP ticket and is backed by GEMA.
The GEMA-Luo alliance, Orengo believes, offers a realistic chance of defeating Ruto.
