Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has assured President William Ruto that the entire Nyanza region is solidly behind him.
Speaking in Baringo during the annual Kimalel Goat Auction on Monday, December 22, 2025, Wandayi stated that the Nyanza region is ready to back President Ruto for a second term.
According to him, residents have witnessed numerous development projects implemented by the government in the region and would like the president to continue beyond 2027.
He further noted that Nyanza, a region that has traditionally been in the opposition, has now embraced President Ruto’s leadership. Wandayi said the shift is driven by the people on the ground, adding that local leaders are simply following the will of the residents.
“Sisi penye tunatoka kule Siaya, na Nyanza kwa ujumula, wananchi washaamua tayari; in fact, wananchi ndio wametangulia, viongozi ndio wanafwata,” Wandayi stated.
These come days after telling leaders in the Nyanza region that, as it currently stands, no leader from the region can marshal a campaign machinery that can defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 polls.
“There is nobody who can marshal a campaign against Ruto in Nyanza now and win.”
